HEY GUYS! okay, so this is the original request and it's going to stay up for good, because as we go we'll add characters and if people need to drop out and YES. on that note, if in the course of threading or plotting or whatever, you go YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE COOL WOULD BE IF MY CHARACTER COULD HAVE A _____ then just send me a pm! since this seems really popular, i'll be looking at chucking some more characters in once the current lot get up and going.

on that note, this is obviously the group plotting thread! since a lot of stuff is already planned out, i think the purpose of this will mostly be for linking to threads, updating about big plot developments in individual plots. and going OMG MAY YOU HAVE THE BEST IDEAS. obvs.

welcome marvin price: older brother of travis, married to marta. he was homeless, along with his little brother, when they were welcomed into the community ten years ago. initially, he was skeptical. for good reason, too. they hadn't been shown much kindness, and suddenly someone was offering them a place to stay, and work, and get off the streets? he wasn't really considering staying for long when he was immediately struck by his now wife, marta. if not for her, who knows where he'd be by now. he's stubborn, headstrong. works as a farmer. before coming to freedom, he was on a bad path. used to fight a lot. he's still working to overcome his temper. he has a son, jacob, and a woman he loves to death. he considers himself lucky.

yep hi this is harmony honeycut. she's seventeen. the youngest of kenneth and anna's children. she's engaged to a man eleven years old than she is. it was arranged. she's terrified, but will she ever tell anyone that? no. she knows it's just part of what she has to do to make not only god, but her parents happy. she's not pregnant yet. she's never had sex, even. she's never known anything but what goes on at freedom ranch. sometimes, she wonders what it'd be like in the outside world, but thinking about it terrifies her. she loves her family very, very much. she's a bit on the naive side. she's training under her sister-in-law to become a midwife. overall, harmony's a pretty happy girl. she's pretty bubbly, eager to please. she means well!! so yea hi that's her.

THIRDLY, A GROUP THREAD! okay i know we all secretly dread those words or um i do because they get messy and are just frustrating BUT I HAVE A PLAN!!! i was thinking it'd be cool to do a short thread where we each do one post (200 - 300 words) with our characters arriving at a morning prayer. so we can introduce them, figure out who would sit with who, get into their heads, etc. it'll also be good for just getting the ball rolling while we all kind of figure out our individual ish. WHAT THINK YOU ALL?

hey hi hello!! this is travis price. he's marvin's little brother. ten years ago, their mother abandoned them and they were left homeless, but then the commune took them in so he pretty much feels that he owes them his life. he depends on them, basically. he'd never leave. he's married to modesty and completely unaware that she's pregnant, and he's currently working as a farmer. as for his personality, he can come off as a bit of an asshole, but he doesn't mean to. as much of a sin as it is, he's got his pride and he'll always stand by that. he'll do whatever he can to protect the good name that he's created for himself. he's kind to everyone, though. seeing as he really does believe he owes the commune everything, he'll pretty much do anything he can to help the people around him. w/e he's a cool kid okay bye

la la la this is willow honeycutt, married into the family by solemnity her wonderful and devoted husband. she's the community midwife, it's a trade of the family her mum and mum's mum and so on.. she loves kids which is more why she got into it as opposed to feeling obligated. she really wants to have kids and not for lack of trying but in all the time she's been with solemnity she's never gotten pregnant. she's sure it's her fault, when she was five she stole a candy bar so she's positive this is punishment. she's having a hard time dealing with the fact she has no kids especially when her sisters and all her friends keep popping them out. by now she ought to have three or more but she's still waiting and hoping. her secret feelings and thoughts though are just that - secret. she won't talk to anyone about it because she doesn't believe in burdening people with her own problems. lately she's just been praying a lot, practically begging god to give them a child.

this is modesty honeycutt price, wife to travis, sister of justice, solemnity, serenity, and harmony, and next-to-youngest daughter of the ranch's founders. she's also one of the ranch's cooks, and loves to be in the kitchen creating things by herself, where she can feel peaceful and calm and in control. she doesn't feel like that often; most of the time, modesty is slightly panicked, even if no one can tell. she's felt trapped by the commune for a long time and wanted to get away. but she learned quick and early that speaking out didn't pay off; so she hid how she felt and tried to become part of the commune despite herself. deep down, modesty didn't want to leave her family. but the way they live is so restricting that she's not sure how much longer she can take it. she thought her husband, travis, would be a relief at least, or maybe a way out, since he's from the outside world, but that's proved not to be the case.

now she's pregnant and the urge to leave is getting worse. she hasn't told anyone about any of it, especially her husband. on the whole, to everyone else, modesty seems like a quiet, contemplative girl, given to soft speech and gentle actions. she's always been one of those people who prefers to dwell in the background and finds it easier to pretend to go along with things than to rail against them. inside, she feels like chaos.

 

modesty and marvin, he's travis's older brother so i think they'd be relatively close. he probably wouldn't appreciate the fact she's going to be slowly trying to talk travis into leaving the ranch but still. umum i think they'd get along just on the fact modesty doesn't stir up public trouble?! so she'd tend to stay away from him when he was angry, and be otherwise polite and accomodating.

modesty and harmony, i think modesty loves and babies her kid sister. she's the only one younger than mod, and with the twins right above them i think they would've spent a lot of time together, playing little games, brushing each other's hair, making daisy chains, just cute little things. i think modesty worries that she's somehow unconsciously influenced her sister in her desire to get away from there, which she's never openly spoke about but maybe heard harmony speak about and not exactly actively discouraged? but she just wants harm's life to be sweet and peaceful and generally worries after her.

modesty and travis, ugh i think she loves him, but she keeps so much of herself secret from him that it hurts to be around him sometimes. she thinks he's a much better person than she is because he's able to respect what he has and want to stay with it, while all she wants is to get away. so i think she's deferential to him, and often inexplicably sad when he's around, though she tries to hide it. and doesn't like to spend a lot of time alone with him if she doesn't have to, just because the more they're together, the harder it is to hide. IDK WE'LL TALK i added you on msn. <3

modesty and willow, sister-in-law! i think modesty and willow would get along, or at least would have prior to modesty discovering she was pregnant. now she's worried that willow will figure it out simply by being around her, so she's trying to avoid her at all costs. and she feels terrible that she's pregnant with a baby that she wants in one way and doesn't in another when she knows how badly willow and solemnity want kids and it isn't happening. so just yes generally her feelings toward willow are a mess but they got along really well until about a month ago?!

harmony and marvin - ummm. idk. his brother is married to her sister, so i mean, they'd know each other. but i get the feeling she'd be nothing more than modesty's kid sister to him? idk. hahaha. i mean, i could see them being friendly with each other at family events and what no, but i don't know if they'd be ~close? whateva idk!!!

harmony and travis - brother-in-law!!! as long as he's good to her sister, she'll be happy with him. she probably wouldn't be ~super close to him, but she wouldn't like...ignore him if she's out and about. if that makes sense. whatever idk.

harmony and willow - harmony would love her. the end. they'd be pretty close, seeing as how harm is working under her, learning how to be a midwife. (: i think she'd really feel for her, not being able to have a child. if she knew, of course. she'd probably be that annoying sister figure who continuously brings it up, just because she knows willow needs to get it off her chest. now, she wouldn't bring it up and demand she tell her EVERYTHING, she'd just remind her that she's there for her if she ever needs to talk!

harmony and modesty - omg. that is adorable. yes yes yes. that's all i really have to say. what if she overheard her praying one night, telling god she wanted to explore the world, and to give her a sign if he would be okay with it? she would've done it pretty quietly, but maybe modesty heard her and brought it up later? harmony would've have received a sign, so she'd end up just being like "well, it's not going to happen." but yea. they'd basically be like...bffs? sister bffs!

justice kenneth honeycutt, husband to heather, father to kenneth, mary and john. he's the eldest honeycutt and has been groomed his whole life to take over when kenneth senior becomes unable to continue, and is grooming kenneth junior with the same goal. that's why he - along with connor - are sent out into the world to spread the word about the farm. justice, because he's next in line, and connor, because he's someone who chose to join the group.

justice knows everyone and everyone knows justice. he makes it his business, just like his father. whenever he returns from being away - which can be for a couple of weeks at a time, depending on how far they go - he makes sure to check in with every family and see if there's anything they need. when at home, he helps his father run the daily prayers and the church services. so. he a big deal.

because of his confusion around his sexuality and his inability to reconcile that with his faith, he's incredibly controlled as a person. every word, every action is measured. he carefully thinks through every single thing he does to make sure he's being the man god and his father want him to be. except when he's off-site with connor - that's when he lets go and by letting go, he does something he sees as sinful, which just reinforces his idea that he needs to be in control at all times. to everyone on the outside, though, he just looks to be unshakable in his faith, calm and clear-headed, a strong leader, emotionless, perfect. but he's also incredibly controlling, especially of heather and their kids - it verges on abusive, only of course no one can say that out loud due to his position within the community.

really, it all comes down to this: he wants to be the man god made him, only he can't. he wants to be strong enough to defeat his sin and his perversion, only he isn't. and he's so tired from working against himself that he gives in. to compensate for that, he works even harder against himself. he sees his wife and children as an extension of himself, so they need to be perfect too.

dat's what i have so far. um.

to his family members, he ... well, he's their older brother, so he loves them and wants to protect them, but also they are a reflection on him and on the commune as a whole. so he's not the brother to turn to if you're having religious doubts, but if is more the person to go to if you want guidance to find a way to reconnect with god or you know. that kind of thing.

to everyone else, he's yeah. the strong leader. idk. he loves everyone and genuinely cares about everyone's issues and is always there for support and strength - again, not if you're doubting the commune or god or anything, but otherwise, yes.

double post because: GROUP THREAD!. i haven't coded or graphic'd because i can't on this computer but also i don't think it's totally necessary? idk, to each their own! it's short, and there's a ton of info in it, but yes. it'd be good if we could get everyone just to post their entrance to church, and then we can decide where we wanna go with it, if anywhere at all.

also!!!!!! if you make a thread in this plot, plzzz pm me the link so i can keep track in the top post! hopefully we'll get enough to request a personal verse because um this is gonna get huge and also doesn't really fit in anywhere existing.

ALSO ALSO! i'm already starting to plan the next lot of characters to request, since this is super popular and i know there's people who wanted to take part but missed out on who they wanted. so if you have any plans for characters, again, chuck me a pm! they can be needed for your character, something you just think would be fun, something you know a friend of yours is keen on, whatever. the more the merrier! but um, yeah, everyone's gonna be requested like i requested the first twelve because i think that'll work better than just having a free-for-all. modesty - lol eventually willow will have to figure it out because modesty will have to go to someone to make sure she's healthy and the baby is doing okay. but i promise she'll try not to resent her too much. she'll just cry later once modesty has left and she has a moment to herself. then she'll go home and make solemnity have sex for the bajillionth time in hopes of it sticking this time.

harmony - haha yeah plus in the situation they're in (dealing with babies all the time) i'm sure it's something harmony would just be constantly bringing up and willow would be forcing a smile and being like 'oh we don't mind. god will gift us with children when it's our time' but die a little on the inside. she still loves her sister in law as if she was blood, nothing will change that no matter how annoying she is about the baby thing.

travis - i don't see her having much a problem with him. though i doubt they interact all that much. maybe we can develop something further once modesty's pregnancy comes out because i'm sure he'll come along to at least one of the checkups eventually and then they can meet.

justice - brother in law, howdy. she respects him and looks up to him, maybe eventually she expresses her fears to him in confidence about how she thinks god is punishing her about the thief and now she can't have babies and she's scared solemnity is going to hate her and just venttttt cos she'd trust him to know what to do and whatever.

marvin - again. little interaction but i'm sure she's nice to him when she sees him. she would've been the one who brought jacob into the world and what not.

i have an idea for how willow could maybe get pregnant but i need to talk to the person who plays solemnity first before i make any sorts of requests. though maybe siblings for all the girls married into the family would be cool?
